# Getting started

The FlightQueue API returns airport wait times, FAA delay status, hourly predictions, historical patterns, fast track offers and wait-time alerts. All responses use JSON.

## Base URL

```text
https://flightqueue.com/api/v1
```

## Make a request

Send your key in the `X-API-Key` header:

```bash
curl -H "X-API-Key: fq_live_your_key" \
  "https://flightqueue.com/api/v1/airports/JFK/wait-times"
```

Every successful response uses one envelope:

```json
{
  "success": true,
  "data": {},
  "meta": { "requestId": "3f8c2b1e-6d4a-4f7b-9a1e-2c5d8e7f0a12", "timestamp": "2026-11-07T12:00:00.000Z" }
}
```

Every failed response uses this envelope. Error responses have no `meta` object:

```json
{
  "success": false,
  "error": { "code": "PREMIUM_REQUIRED", "message": "Live wait times require a premium subscription" }
}
```
