No flights are allowed to depart for the affected airport. The most severe delay type, typically caused by severe weather, equipment failure, or security incidents. Duration: 30 min to 3+ hours.
Ground Delay Programs
Flights are held at departure airports to manage arrival traffic flow. Delays are assigned before takeoff to reduce airborne holding. Duration: 15 min to 2 hours.
Weather & Operational
Departure and arrival delays from congestion, weather, or airspace flow programs. Includes AFP and general operational delays. Duration: 15 min to 90 min.
